North and West Remote Health (NWRH) is currently seeking adaptable Social Workers, Aboriginal Health Workers or relatable qualifications (such as Certificate 4 level qualifications) and/or lived experience including as a carer, to join our teams as a Mental Health Professional or Wellbeing Clinician in Mount Isa, Normanton or Townsville with travel to other outreach locations.

Your primary responsibility will be to deliver assessment, care planning, treatment and intervention services, as well as psycho-social supports, in home support and other practical supports within the community. We are also looking for people who can implement and lead projects.

As a Wellbeing Clinician, Social Worker or Mental Health Professional with NWRH you will have the opportunity to expand your skillset whilst working with a broad range of clients, including children and adults, older persons, and those experiencing mild to moderate mental health concerns.

As a highly valued member of our team, your primary responsibility will be to provide direct client support to adults, youth, children and families, providing a range of practical supports including NDIS support, carers support, transport, in home support, social support as well as creating programs to engage and support our clients and the community. You will be required to liaise with community to plan, deliver and evaluate program specific wellbeing services and community education activities, in accordance with organisational and program funding guidelines. This will be achieved by:

  • Assessing clients' needs and developing and implementing social and emotional wellbeing plans for a range of clients possibly including carers, people experiencing drug and alcohol issues, families requiring support, children and youth, people with disabilities and more;
  • Talking with clients to assess how we can support them, including referring to agencies that can provide additional help;
  • Reporting on the progress of clients and maintaining accurate and timely health records and statistics;
  • Continually seeking out opportunities for people to connect to their wellbeing in innovative and culturally appropriate ways;
  • Working with the broader community to build local capacities in identifying, developing, implementing and evaluating community-based initiatives to support wellbeing

 

You will travel to various and culturally diverse communities, including discrete First Nations areas across the North-Western regions of Queensland. The NWRH team often cover a lot of distance and you will have the opportunity to see very remote parts of Australia.

Helping those who may not otherwise receive healthcare and support, you’ll get to see the real difference your work makes in people’s lives, allowing clients to live and receive support locally.

You will have high-level communication and negotiation skills to establish and support respectful and trusting relationships with individuals, teams, NWRH staff and the community at large.

We are looking for seasoned, experienced professionals; however, candidates of all levels of experience are encouraged to apply. Current registration with AASW (if applying as a Social Worker) is required.

In return for your hard work and dedication, you'll receive an excellent starting salary ranging from $52,000 to $97,000, commensurate with your qualifications and experience, PLUS a range of additional benefits, including:

  • Up to $15,900 salary sacrificing;
  • Annual leave loading of 17.5%;
  • 5 weeks annual leave; and
  • Relocation Assistance
