NWRH is currently looking for Care Support Workers to join their team based in Mount Isa.

Working as part of a supportive, diverse and multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for supporting older people or people living with a disability in the community to meet their identified goals related to remaining independent in their home and connected with their community.

A typical day will include:

  • Providing nutrition and hydration management, hygiene care, personal care and social activities for clients in accordance with their care plans;
  • Assisting clients with domestic activities;
  • Monitoring and reporting on the progress of clients, and consulting with them or their family about changes to their care plans;
  • Reporting changes to client health conditions promptly to the Line Manager;
  • Encouraging community care clients to achieve their optimum level of independence;
  • Ensuring clients have access to social activities within the community;
  • Assisting clients to remain socially engaged with their peers; and

 Helping those who may not otherwise receive localised care and support, you’ll get to see the real difference your work makes in their lives.

Suitable candidates will ideally hold a Certificate III in Aged Care, Disability, Community Care, Individual Support or a willingness to obtain one! 

It is also a requirement that candidates currently hold, or are willing to obtain a:

  • Senior First Aid Certificate;
  • Working with Children (Blue) Card; 
  • NDIS worker screening; and
  • A current 'C' class Driver's License 

Your genuine desire to provide support to older people and people with a disability, will be pivotal to your success. You will be a positive, solutions-focused, flexible self-starter with the ability to operate comfortably in both a team and individual environment with people of multicultural backgrounds. 

Although not essential, previous experience in a similar role will be highly regarded, as will prior experience working in remote locations. Proficiency in the use of the Microsoft Office suite (or the ability to quickly learn), would also be advantageous.

In return for your hard work and dedication, you'll receive an attractive hourly rate (commensurate with experience and qualifications) plus super.

Candidates applying for a full-time position will also receive a range of additional benefits including:

  • Up to $15,900 salary sacrificing; and
  • Annual leave loading of 17.5%
