Team Leader Mental Health and Wellbeing

Mount Isa, QLD | Full-Time | Salary package exceeding $100,000 (commensurate with qualifications and experience)

Lead a passionate multidisciplinary team and make a lasting impact on the mental health and wellbeing of people living in rural and remote communities.

North and West Remote Health (NWRH) is seeking an experienced and motivated Team Leader – Mental Health & Wellbeing to oversee the delivery of high-quality mental health and psychosocial support programs across North West Queensland. This leadership role combines clinical oversight, team management and program coordination to ensure exceptional outcomes for clients, communities and funding partners.

About the Role

As the Team Leader – Mental Health & Wellbeing, you will provide leadership and operational oversight to a multidisciplinary team delivering evidence-based mental health, mental health nursing and community wellbeing services.

You will be responsible for ensuring services are delivered safely, effectively and in accordance with funding agreements, organisational policies and best practice standards while fostering a positive, collaborative and high-performing team culture.

This role is based in Mount Isa and requires regular travel to rural and remote communities, including travel by road and small aircraft.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and support a multidisciplinary mental health and wellbeing team.
• Manage the delivery of funded mental health and psychosocial wellbeing programs.
• Oversee program budgets, workforce planning and resource allocation.
• Monitor program performance and ensure key performance indicators are achieved.
• Ensure high-quality clinical documentation, reporting and data compliance.
• Coordinate recruitment, onboarding, supervision and performance development of staff.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with health providers, government agencies and community stakeholders.
• Promote culturally safe, person-centred and recovery-oriented practice.
• Prepare funding reports and ensure contractual obligations are met.
• Drive continuous quality improvement and identify opportunities for service growth.
• Provide advice to senior management regarding service delivery improvements.

Travel regularly to remote communities to support staff and service delivery.

About You

You are an experienced leader with a strong clinical background in mental health and a genuine passion for improving outcomes in rural and remote communities. You thrive in a collaborative environment and enjoy supporting teams to achieve meaningful outcomes.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• A current unrestricted Australian Class C Driver Licence.
• Eligibility to obtain or hold a Blue Card and NDIS Worker Screening Clearance.
• Management qualifications are highly regarded.

Skills & Experience

We are looking for someone who has:

• Demonstrated leadership experience managing multidisciplinary health or community service teams.
• Strong knowledge of mental health assessment, intervention and recovery-oriented practice.
• Experience managing program budgets, funding agreements and operational performance.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• High-level organisational, administrative and computer skills.
• Experience maintaining accurate clinical documentation and data reporting.
• An understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and the ability to work in culturally safe ways.
• The ability to work independently while leading and motivating others.
• Flexibility to travel regularly throughout rural and remote Queensland.
