Mental Health Professionals & Counsellors

NWRH is seeking Mental Health Professionals for the Stepped Care (MYND KIND) model and Counsellors for Carer Gateway.

 

Stepped Care (MYND KIND)

Salary: From $80,000 to $98,500 + super (depending on experience/qualifications)

Location: Townsville and Mackay with expressions of interest being sought for Cairns and Mount Isa.

NWRH is part of a Regional Provider Network, that is taking a new approach to delivering client centred mental health services.

 Working alongside several providers, our services take a collaborative approach, integrating different aspects of the mental health care system, to deliver a cohesive, easy to access, system of mental health care. 

We are seeking mental health professionals who are willing to work as part of this system and who are committed to the key guiding principles:

Suitable Qualifications and Experience

  • Registered Psychologists (various levels)
  • Accredited Mental Health Nurses
  • Mental Health Occupational Therapists
  • Accredited Mental Health Social Workers

We also welcome applications from Provisional Psychologists, Mental Health Nurses working towards ACMHN accreditation, and students seeking placement opportunities.

These positions are available on either a full-time or part-time basis to suit your lifestyle.

The primary focus of the role is delivering high-quality, client-centred mental health assessment, treatment and/or case coordination services within an integrated stepped care model. Services are voluntary and support clients of all levels of complexity across the lifespan.

Counsellors - Carer Gateway

Salary: From $80,000 to $98,500 + super (depending on experience and qualifications)
Location: Townsville; open to travel across the Northwest and Lower Gulf regions.

Our Carer Gateway team is also seeking experienced Counsellors to provide in-person counselling support to carers experiencing stress, anxiety, depression and low mood associated with their caring role.

Sessions are delivered in line with the In-Person Counselling Service Design and Guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver evidence-based counselling (Rogers, CBT, or similar)
  • Provide needs assessments, brief interventions and single-session therapy
  • Offer psychoeducation, care planning and supported referrals
  • Maintain accurate case notes, outcomes & reporting
  • Provide community-based and outreach support where required
  • Work collaboratively with the local Carer Gateway team and stakeholders
  • Traveling to remote communities

Suitable Qualifications and Experience

  • Accreditation with ACA, PACFA, AASW, or equivalent
  • Recognised qualification in counselling, psychotherapy or social work
  • Minimum 3 years’ counselling experience in Australia
  • Experience delivering Rogers/CBT-based therapies (or similar evidence-based practice)
