Headspace Mackay, led by North and West Remote Health (NWRH), provides services to young people aged 12–25 years. We’re seeking a passionate, experienced, and dedicated Youth Access Clinician to join our team in Mackay.
About the Role
As a Youth Access Clinician, you will play a vital role in engaging, assessing, and supporting young people through brief interventions, counselling, and care coordination. You’ll connect youth to appropriate programs, whether within the headspace centre, satellite services, or local community agencies, supporting our “No Wrong Door” approach to youth mental health and wellbeing.
You’ll also collaborate closely with our multi-disciplinary teams across Sarina, Mackay, and the Whitsundays to understand and champion the headspace model, while promoting our services throughout the wider Mackay community.
Reporting to the Clinical Lead, this role requires someone who can relate authentically to young people and deliver services in a youth-friendly, engaging way.
Skills & Experience
The ideal candidate will have, or be working toward, qualifications in Youth Work, Health Promotion, Public Health, Community Development, Social/Behavioural Science, Social Work, or a related discipline.
In addition, you will have:

- Demonstrated experience supporting young people with mental health challenges, alcohol and other drug issues, or social concerns
- Skills in delivering brief therapeutic interventions, counselling, and treatment planning
- Experience working in multidisciplinary teams and coordinating client care
- Ability to consent to a criminal record check, obtain a QLD Blue Card, and NDIS worker screening check
- A current, unrestricted 'C' class Australian Driver’s Licence
- The right to live and work in Australia
- Desirable: Experience in implementation and facilitation of groups
