AVAILABLE ROLES

COUNSELLOR – CARER GATEWAY (Townsville & Mount Isa)

Provide in-person counselling to Carer Gateway clients experiencing stress, anxiety, depression and low mood due to their caring role. Sessions must align with the In-Person Counselling Service Design and Guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver evidence-based counselling (Rogers, CBT, or similar)
• Provide needs assessments, brief interventions and single-session therapy
• Offer psychoeducation, care planning and supported referrals
• Maintain accurate case notes, outcomes & reporting
• Provide community-based and outreach support where required
• Work collaboratively with the local Carer Gateway team and stakeholders

Required Accreditation (Contractual Requirements)

You must have:

  • Accreditation with ACA, PACFA, AASW, or equivalent
  • Recognised qualification in counselling, psychotherapy or social work
  • Minimum 3 years’ counselling experience in Australia
  • Experience delivering Rogers/CBT-based therapies (or similar evidence-based practice)

MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONAL – STEPPED CARE (Cairns)

Provide structured psychological therapies to individuals across the lifespan experiencing mild–moderate and, where appropriate, high-intensity mental health needs through PHN-funded Stepped Care Psychological Therapies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver evidence-based therapies & brief interventions
  • Complete clinical assessments and structured treatment plans
  • Use pre- and post-outcome measures
  • Provide care coordination, referrals & liaison with providers
  • Deliver therapy face-to-face, telehealth and occasional outreach
  • Work with children, adolescents, adults and families
  • Contribute to quality improvement and reporting

Required Accreditation (Contractual Requirements)

You must have:

  • AASW, ACA, PACFA, AHPRA (Provisional or Registered Psychologist), or equivalent
  • Recognised qualification in counselling, psychotherapy or social work
  • Minimum one year’s experience in a similar role in Australia
  • Competence in CBT, Rogers, or related evidence-based therapeutic modalities

• Digital confidence (clinical systems, telehealth, documentation)
• Ability to travel for outreach (varies by role)
• High level of ethics, integrity and confidentiality
