headspace Mackay is a youth service supported and run under lead agency North and West Remote Health to deliver services to youth aged 12 – 25 years. We’re looking for a passionate, experienced, and dedicated person to join our team!

headspace Mackay is now seeking a full-time Senior Mental Health Clinician to join their team. You will be responsible for promoting evidence-based clinical practice and supporting team members in the clinical decision-making process regarding the care provided to young people.

As an integral part of the team, you will provide psychological interventions and clinical assessments to young people presenting with low-moderate mental health concerns. Working in collaboration with the  Mackay Clinical Lead and Centre Manager, you will determine the appropriate clinical pathway for young people who access the service.

Reporting to the Mackay Clinical Lead, the Senior Mental Health Clinician will contribute to the development of early intervention youth mental health services as well as participate in regular case review meetings to support appropriate care for all clients entering the service.

Successful candidates will receive an excellent salary of $93,000 – $102,000, commensurate with skills and experience plus super.

Skills and experience

The right candidate will be currently registered with AHPRA or mental health accredited membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) and have a passion for providing quality healthcare.

In addition, you will need:

  • Degree level qualifications in professional counselling or a social work or psychology discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working as a qualified psychologist or social worker.
  • Experience and solid knowledge of the National Standards for Mental Health Services and the ability to support new graduate practitioners towards independent mental health practice.
  • Knowledge of and experience working within the Family Systems Theory and the delivery of systemically informed care to young people and their families.
  • A current, unrestricted 'C' class Australian Driver's Licence; and
  • The right to live and work in Australia
